Glass Heart

My dear,
you should know:

I only sparkle
because

I've been shattered

But oh...

Because I've been shattered

I sparkle

Inequality in the Pursuit of Life

I've heard them say
that
death is fair
that
He's unbiased
Doesn't care
If you're
young or old
Or
rich or poor
That may have been true once
But it's not
anymore
Or maybe it is
and Death himself
Still operates
in all fairness
Maybe the issue lies
in the fact
that
Some are protected
Have
armies to keep him at bay
And some have no choice
But
to succumb
on the day
He first calls their name
See
I cannot help but see
Though
equal in death we may be
Still we
are anything but
when it comes
to dying

String

Enough words
can convince
a bird
that she's a kite
So
she'll let you tie her down
And forget
that she can fly
with her own two wings
she'll forget she has a voice
and a song to sing
and a life,
and a choice
But
by and by
she'll hear her song
find her place in the sky
words can't hold forever
someone
born to fly

Joke of the Day-3

Three cats decide to have a race across the river.
The English cat is named one two three.
The German cat is named eins zwei drei.
The French cat is named un deux trois.
So the three cats set out across the river.
The English cat reaches the shore first.
The German cat reaches the shore second.
But
The French cat is nowhere to be found.
Why?
Because:
(drum roll, please)
Un duex trois quatre cinq!

Ok, well, I thought it was funny.

Unraveling

I live in a world
of daydreams and teardrops
Hoping like hell I'll be okay
Halfway between
Wishing I was someone else
and simply wishing myself away
Don't know who I am
Or who I will become
And I feel like I'm walking alone
Like even my loved ones
Are strangers to me
And there's no such place as home
And I'm falling apart
All my stitches
unraveling
And I fear it won't be long
Until there's no such thing
as me

Joke of the Day-2

Two men are conversing at a bar:

Guy 1: So I went to the doctor today.
Guy 2: Oh yeah?
Guy 1: Yeah. He told me I really need to watch my drinking.
Guy 2: Then why did you come here?
Guy 1: Because this bar has a mirror.

Last Apology

Forgive me for my weakness
Forgive me for my sin
Forgive me for
the person I'm not
But could have
Should have
Been

Forgive me for my doubt
Forgive me for my fear
I must face
the myriad mistakes
I've made over
my years

True,
I have stumbled
many times
On this path that I have trod
And you may well
begrudge me
the person I am not

Still,
know that every step
I took
led me to where
I stand
You may say
what you feel
you need to say
am
who
am

Shiny

People have said
They like me better
When I'm sad
Because
I'm so much
quieter
But it's okay
I understand now
I think
Dim light
is so much
easier
on weak eyes

Love and Sight

 They say

Love is blind

I think that might

be a lie

The truth is

Love

Has very clear sight

In fact

It would seem

The beauty  of Love

Is

Love sees all,

but Love

forgives

Joke of the Day - 1

Probably my favorite joke of all time:

Q: What's the difference between ignorance and apathy?
A: I don't know and I don't care.

Get it?

Okay, okay, I know it's corny as all get out, but it's still funny.

Today

I am the voice

I hear in my head

But I've never listened

to a word I've said

My spirit breaks

But it's not the end

I pick up the

                        pieces

 Stitch-them-together-again

Laughter springs from my lips

As tears fall from my eyes

They both tell the truth

Though

I'd meant

to lie

Small

I am nothing like Hercules
No one fights me to prove their strength
Unlike Midas I've no thief to fear
For I've no money to my name
My beauty will never start a war
I am no Helen of Troy
It's naught to me, for I've no need
Of a thousand men for toys
Let others aspire to greatness
Let others try to catch the wind
Me? I am happy, I am content
Being now, as I have always been

The Poet As a Poem

I am a group of obscure words

Written in an awkward sort of rhyme

Read in a tiny sing song voice

Just a little

                          out of time

My rhythm is a bit uncouth

My concept a tad undefined

You could blame it on my youth

But it made sense

 In my mind

One Day at a Time

Shit

Fuck

Look at me, I'm all grown up

Damn

Wow

Thought I'd have figured something out

By now

I've got a job, and a baby, and rent to pay

An ex-husband, and my love life?

Well

Let's just say

I never considered it going this way

Until the day

It did

Mind

I don't mind

I am feeling so fine

Ohmigod

It's a hell of a life

And I'm just taking it

All

In

One day at a time
